Love Nest Pocket

I am Ann Flanagan, and I live in Chicago with my husband, Mike, and dog, Harper. Mike bought this 600 square foot condo that we call home before we started dating. A year and a half ago we turned it into our love nest, and most of my friends refer to it as our little pocket. I am a paralegal in the city, but I am working towards becoming an interior designer. I realized that life's too short not to follow my passions.

Change Up

To all of my wonderful followers: Thank you for taking interest in this blog. This has been a really fun and exciting journey for me. However, I’m pressed for time. As I work full time, go to school part time, am a wife, and a mommy to a dog, I have found that Tumblr has not been able to offer me the ease of blogging the way I would like to. I’ve done some research during these few days that I have had off, and I have opened a blogspot account. This way people can share, comment, and follow as they please, and I can see the traffic on the account. I will still use my tumblr account for inspiration postings. I would be so happy if you would follow me at www.lovenestpocket.blogspot.com.

Much Love,

Ann

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2011! This is going to be a good year. 2010 was great. I went back to school and I got married. This year will be full of many adventures with the hubs and doggie do. 2011 is the year of the rabbit. How could the year of a adorable fluffy animal not be wonderful?

Mmm…Found objects. There is nothing more cozy to me. I even like the fake found objects from Pottery Barn, but that’s not really my style. I like them for real…a treasure to be uncovered. Where on earth could this have come from? The object that has an untold story, but now has a home again. How special. Decorating with found objects can be tricky sometimes because you don’t want your home looking like a flea market. I think that pairing the found objects with two more modern yet still traditional pieces of furniture/decor would help. Patterns against patterns are so wonderfully messy sometimes that it makes perfect sense.

Inspiration Board

There is a lot that inspires me. I love colors, patterns, antiques, and that unique piece. I like imagining what they would look like together. I have put together an inspiration board. Imagine: The pink stripe on a wall, a high back chair in the diamond pattern with a fuchsia throw pillow, a small ottoman in the green paisley, the side table next to the chair, the mirror hanging out the wall as a focal point, all atop the beautiful French wood flooring.
